Pectinase is an enzyme that breaks down pectin, a polysaccharide found in plant cell walls.

Pectinase helps to maintain a healthy level of bacteria in intestines by maintain ideal pH range for its growth. Pectinase helps to increase the bioavailability of sugar in food.

It helps to provide energy needed for the proper function of colon.

The breakdown of pectin produces fatty acids such as butyrate that are necessary for maintaining a healthy level of intestine motility.
